My eating disorder started when I was 14. At first I felt like I was sinking. A few months later, I was drowning. All of the joy that came with experiences like getting dinner with friends morphed into anxiety and endless triggers. I confided in one of my teachers, and she said: "You look fine. It’s a teenager thing". This illness is often misunderstood and, in many cases, not taken seriously. If you are not taken seriously, you won’t seek treatment. Without treatment, the illness becomes life-threatening. Eating disorders have the 2nd highest mortality rate out of all mental illnesses. Recovery has been a strange, sometimes infuriating, but worthwhile experience. From the outside, it's hard to understand, but if you are in it, you get it. We are a community with a very unique, shared experience. You motivate me to keep fighting every day, and I am honored to return the favor.

Eating disorders don't discriminate. BIPOC, LGBTQ+, men, and people in larger bodies are less likely to receive the care needed to recover. We're committed to being as inclusive as possible. We offer ten different meal plans, incorporate multiple cuisines into our menus, and provide vegetarian options.

Eating disorders thrive in isolation. Having a community that understands and supports you is imperative. You’ve taken the first and, arguably, the hardest step. You started treatment.
